Who We Are / Mission

Fulfilling our promises to the men and women who served. We are dedicated to a single purpose: Empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity.

We accomplish this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; Fighting for the interests of America's injured heroes on Capitol Hill,

and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life.

  • Valley View Food BankProviding free, professional assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services earned through military service and provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies of government.
  • Providing outreach concerning its program services to the American people generally, and to disabled veterans and their families specifically.
  • Representing the interests of disabled veterans, their families, their widowed spouses and their orphans before Congress, the White House and the Judicial Branch, as well as state and local government.
  • Extending DAV’s mission of hope into the communities where these veterans and their families live through a network of state-level Departments and local chapters.
  • Providing a structure through which disabled veterans can express their compassion for their fellow veterans through a variety of volunteer programs

What We Do / Actions Not Just Words

  1. DAV Department of Arizona is Home to 16 Chapters throughout the State.  Each of these chapters perform vital services that improve the lives of our Disabled Veterans.  For more information on what is being done at your local chapter check out the Chapter Pages on this website.
  2. DAV Department of Arizona Purchases Vans and Donates them to the VA for transportation to and from their VA appointments.  We also recruit the volunteers to drive these vans and we do the logistics necessary to transport veterans from some of the most remote locations in the state.
  3. DAV Department of Arizona Supports Many Homeless Programs Throughout the State.  We contributed this year alone $9000.00 to Stand-downs in Prescott, Phoenix, and Tucson.  We have given grants to homeless programs such as shelters, rehab centers, and various assistance programs totaling $20,000 of our annual budget.
  4. DAV Department of Arizona has started a program providing Free Legal Help to veterans and their spouses through our Legal Clinic Program.  We will have sponsored 8 Legal Clinics throughout the state by the end of our Fiscal Year in June 2016.  We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the ADVF for their generous Grant in helping us achieve this goal.  For more information on the AZ Disabled Veteran Foundation please visit their website at www.advf.net or E-Mail them at foundationdata@outlook.com.
  5. We provide financial support to the National Service Office where our specially trained service officers provide benefit counceling and assistance to thousands of veterans every year.  DAV Department of Arizona also employees 3 Hospital Service Officers to provide claims assistance.  They are assigned to the VAMC in Phoenix, Tucson, and Prescott.
  6. Our Ritual Team is tasked to perform burial rituals at the National Cemetery every 3 months.  In March 2015 for example they did 591 Rituals, providing military honors to our fallen comrades.  The team in total for just March 2015 donated 906 hours of their time.

This is only a partial list of the projects DAV Department of AZ has committed to.
We take our Mission very seriously and we will not stop until every veteran is adequately cared for.
